Songbox requires no user interaction to operate and for the majority of users Songbox will require no setup. However some users may want to turn off default functionality or perhaps add some additional functionality. This can all be done through the Songbox configuration window.

Statusbar Icon

After installing Songbox, the Songbox icon should appear in the status bar area:

Statusbar Menu

Open Songbox Configuration

This option opens the configuration window.

Explanation of the available options is provided alongside the option in the configuration window.

Shared Playlist

This function will allow you to save playlist from many Kinsky control points (PC, iPad, MAC etc) to one location. You will need to enable the Plug-in within the Kinsky option to enable viewing of these Shared Playlists

Check For Updates…

This option manually checks for software updates.

Launch At Login

This option specifies whether Songbox is launched automatically when the user logs in.

Quit Songbox

This option closes the Songbox application, until a reboot or the user restarts the application.

Songbox in Kinsky

Do NOT mistake this with the iTunes plugin that is available from Kinsky. We advise if Songbox is being used to turn OFF the iTunes Plugin with Kinsky and only use Songbox.

Songbox is visible in the Library page of Kinsky

Known Issues

* If you have a compilation Album, in some cases you will get a repeat of the same Album but have different Artists against each Album cover, but iTunes only show this one Album. The solution in this case is to go into iTunes and "Get Info" on that Album, you will find that the Album Artist is blank. Add in either "Various Artists" or the primary artist name. This will fix the multiple Albums in Songbox listings

* iTunes does not save the coverart (folder.jpg) in the same folder as the Music files. If there is no coverart embedded in the Music files (typical with a CD-RIP), then you may have use software to either add the folder.jpg or embed the cover art on the Music files. Check  Linn Docs for suitable to add this

* Check the within the MAC OSX System preferences - Energy Saver - Computer sleep is set to Never

* If you have just installed iTunes11 and Songbox had stopped working then check that the iTunes location is still correct. iTunes may have changed this to /Users/------/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml instead of /Users/------/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml

* Songbox cannot share iTunes Music that resides in the iCloud (iTunes Match). iCloud Music can only be accessed by Apple devices

* Songbox does not work well with multiple active users on the PC/MAC. That is, if Songbox is running for one user and you change users that also has Songbox running, this can cause a songbox error. The present solution is to logoff between users and not have two active users at the same time.
